Racial Harmony Day 2017

Every year around 21st July, schools in Singapore commemorate Racial Harmony Day to mark the anniversary of the 1964 racial riots. This year, the theme for Racial Harmony Day is “Our Singapore Way”. Our Singapore way can be seen in the form of the different races, religions, cultures and even the variety of food and types of games we play.

During Racial Harmony Day this year, the students had the opportunity to try out some Indian food, wear their ethnic outfits, visit information booths, capture memories with one another at the photo booth and watch a specially prepared assembly programme.

Through the activities on Racial Harmony Day, the students learnt about the different ethnic outfits and the importance of making friends with people of other races and religions. They also learnt that in Singapore, people are treated equally regardless of their race and religion, and everyone should appreciate the different cultures that make up Singapore.
