P5 Nature Trail @ East Coast Park 2016

The Primary 5 students went on a nature trail at East Coast Park to learn about the flora and fauna there. The nature guides led the students around the East Coast Park and taught them about the plants and insects. They found it very interesting that their classmates shared on the various facts about the flora and fauna, instead of their teachers. The nature guides were well prepared and engaging. Various plants and insects were introduced to the students. One of the most bizarre plants they learnt about was the Cannonball Tree. Both the fruits and flowers grow from the stalks, which sprout from the trunk of the tree. Another fascinating fact is that the adults of the Cotton Stainer Bug have a white “X” on their wings. Through this trail, P5 students got to know more about East Coast Park and also learnt the importance of nature and how they can conserve it.
