National Day @ IJ Katong 2017

We celebrated the nation’s 52nd birthday with many interesting activities on Tuesday, 8th August 2017. The theme this year, ‘One Nation Together’, reminds all of us to stand together to overcome all odds and that we belong as one people and one nation regardless of origin and background.

The day started with the usual March Past of Flag Bearers, singing of the National Anthem and listening to our National Day Message read by Mrs Cheong.

Other programmes lined up for all present included singing of this year’s theme song ‘Because it’s Singapore!’ composed by Jay Lim, sharing of the History of Singapore, NDP17 Theme and Logo, using simple sign language for “Count on Me, Singapore’, playing a game called 'Don’t Forget the Lyrics’ and some Fun Dance by our own IJ teachers and students to the song of ‘We Will Get There’.

Singapore’s 52nd birthday was special because we celebrated our country’s independence and see how far we have come as a nation. Celebrating it in school has given me the opportunity to be grateful to live in a peaceful country with my loved ones and reflect how we can continue to contribute to Singapore’s prosperity!
