P4 Learning Journey to Changi Airport 2015

In April, the Primary 4 pupils went to Changi Airport and had a good time going through a Mathematics Trail. It was a fun learning experience as the pupils discovered how Mathematics is all around us.

The girls marvelled at how simple shapes can be used to form beautiful patterns through tessellation. They also had fun learning about currency exchange through a make-believe holiday. Some could not contain their excitement as they rode the Sky Train for the first time. The otherwise boring ride was injected with occasional enthusiastic exclamations of what they saw; all these while trying to stay focused on the task at hand.

Not only did the girls work together to apply concepts learnt in Mathematics to solve authentic problems, they got to admire the beautiful interior of Changi Airport. In the process, they were able to get a glimpse of why our airport is rated as one of the best in the world and feel pride for an icon that has won internationally acclaimed awards.

“One thing I liked was admiring the Kinetic Rain display. My group members worked well together. We explained the answers to one another and were able to complete our tasks quickly. I also learnt how to read time in 24-hour format.”  – Tan Yee Teng Claire, Amethyst 4
