P2 Arts Learning Journey 2015

From the 9th of March 2015 to the 13th of March 2015, the Primary 2 girls went on an Arts Learning Journey to the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands. They caught the exhibition titled Da Vinci: Shaping the Future, an introspective journey that explores the ideas of the famous artist Leonardo da Vinci. The exhibition had a variety of live props, videos and installations that showcased the vast brilliance of Da Vinci not only in the area of art but that of science, mathematics, architecture, technology, and music.

There was a guided tour that took the girls around the exhibition. Along the way, there were also interactive stations for the girls to participate in.

“I liked the tour, especially the area where we got to see how he used Mathematics. We arranged a puzzle piece, which Da Vinci made. It had a repeated pattern that could go on forever.”- Ellie Lee, Turquoise 2.

The girls also participated in a workshop that focused on hands-on drawings and prints that helped them understand the different ways Da Vinci illustrated nature.

“I enjoyed the workshop very much. Da Vinci really loved nature and science and he was also a very good artist!”- Natalie Ng, Tangerine2.

Mr Jon Chan, an Art teacher, found the exhibition informative and insightful giving the girls a strong understanding of Da Vinci’s input into the Arts and Sciences. Personally, he was amazed and excited by the presence of the Codex Atlanticus, Da Vinci’s famous collection of intricate drawings and writings.

The girls genuinely enjoyed themselves at the exhibition and they hope to have more trips like the one they had.
