NE Show 2015

On 18 July 2015, the Primary 5 pupils had the privilege to experience a once in a lifetime opportunity by attending a preview of the National Day parade at the Padang.

A befitting celebration of how far Singapore has progressed over the last 50 years, the NE Show not only managed to invoke a strong feeling of nostalgia amongst the teachers, but it also managed to effectively spark a sense of patriotism and pride in the younger generation of Primary 5 pupils.

Although they have not witnessed first-hand the transformative years of Singapore under the leadership of Mr Lee Kuan Yew, the Primary 5 pupils were still able to appreciate the significant impact he had made. When asked about what stood out to her the most during the NE show, Samreen Kaur Gill of Burgundy 5 described how she 'teared up at the sight' when the camera zoomed into the empty seat of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew, where a single flower now occupied.

Likewise, Megan Ong of Mocha 5 recounted how all the various acts and singing National Day songs, such as Home and Our Singapore made her go ‘Wow’. In addition, singing the National Anthem and saying the pledge made her proud to be Singaporean.

All in all, the NE show ended on a high note with everyone grateful for the golden opportunity to be a part of Singapore's golden jubilee celebrations. We will definitely be looking forward to the live NDP show on 9th August.
