Assembly Programme - Where Is My Cat? Here's My Dog.

On Monday, 6 July, Creative Tree Company, a dance theatre, staged a story through the use of theatre and dance entitled, “Where is my cat? Here’s my dog”, during our assembly period.

The performance featured a fusion of physical theatre and 3 different forms of dance, namely ballet, contemporary and percussion dance. It was a tale about Na Na, a little girl and Taco, an abandoned old dog, who met as strangers and eventually became best of friends.

This dance theatre successfully expresses the human compassion and the beauty of trust and friendship, while bringing the awareness of "animal cruelty" to the young generation. Through Arts, the Creative Tree artists hope to nurture tolerance, empathy, responsibility and compassion. This is not only vital for the prevention of animal abuse but also teaches our students to respect and treat their friends, family and others with kindness.

Sun Yingshan (Emerald 3) felt that the programme was interesting and heart-warming as it taught her about animal cruelty.

Bhavya (Jonquil 6) found the plot cute. She thought that the artists did a good job in entertaining the young ones. However, she felt that they could have explained more about their dance as it was rather abstract.

Ellia (Cerise 6) thought that the artists did a good job in depicting how some pets were treated when their owners no longer love them. She found the programme unique.

It was a definitely a great show which emphasizes on the virtues of compassion and respect.
