ARTS Assembly Programme - Deepavali Celebrations 2015

On Monday, 16 November, Apsara Asia featured a dance programme entitled, ‘Deepavali Celebrations’. This ARTS assembly programme aimed to help students understand the true meaning of Deepavali, and to showcase the different genres of Indian dances.

Deepavali Celebrations was a colourful and high-energy programme suited for audience of all ages. Students were shown the rich culture, traditions and lifestyles of the Hindus.

Emma Razali of Burgundy 3 felt that the programme was interesting as it helped her to understand the true meaning of Deepavali. She especially enjoyed the part where she got a chance to try out Bollywood dancing.

Aarifah of Jonquil 5 found the programme to be very colourful and engaging. The programme helped to bring back the festive (Deepavali) mood.

Emily Monique Lay Kohen Emerald 6 shared that she has learnt a lot from the show. It was a very unique and special way to welcome Deepavali. The programme had also made her reflect on the importance of accepting one another’s traditions, cultures & beliefs.
